Box Hill has the highest number of Strava segment posts outside of North America and is the most popular segment post in Europe
The Strava leaderboard shows the KOM time for the Box Hill segment is 4. 46 mins from bottom to top set on the 4th. Aug 2013
by Ian Bibby during the inaugural London Surrey Pro Race
Rohan Dennis got within 3 seconds of Ian's time this year and both Ben Swift and Simon Yates feature in the top ten

So what is it about Box Hill? Everyone will tell you it’s easy - you can ride up it in the large chainring - Yeah I wish. The Olympic road race demonstrated it’s not as easy as it looks
I am always surprised by how steep it appears on paper yet doesn’t look like much when you are on the road. It’s just that my legs never agree with my eyes, it’s not steep, anything but, most of the time it hardly looks like a hill at all and you are always going to get up it no matter how tired you are, unlike some of the other hills close by
But you underestimate it at your peril – just ask Mark Cavendish and Team GB

This year Strava set a Box Hill segment challenge enabling everyone to see how they stacked up against the pros, it was a humbling experience for most
So soon you can forget about winning the Tour de France general classification or the points classification
what any pro worth their salt is going after is winning the Strava Segments KOM Competition

The Zig Zag Road is the most direct route to the National Trust visitors' centre from the Mole Gap for both cars and bicycles
The exact age of the road is uncertain but it first appears on the Ordnance Survey map of 1869 and has been popular with cyclists since the 1880s
The road is a steady climb of 120 metres (390 ft) over 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) and, although on a much smaller scale, has been likened to the Alpe d'Huez in the French Alps
The Zig Zag Road featured prominently in the 2012 Summer Olympics cycling road race events

Sunday morning coffee and cake

The prospect of coffee and cake is enough to give most the excuse of a destination to head for. If it also includes a ride up one of the most picturesque climbs in England
then you're in business to get out and ride. Spending time in a place dominated by like-minded people is also a great incentive,
it's always nice to know you're not the only one who's completely barking
